I am a former management executive totally devoted to social activism and voluntary social work since January 1998. My social activism is aimed at two evils affecting man and the society i.e. cancer and corruption. One can learn more about my cancer crusade by visiting the website: www.cancercrusader.org
Influenced by the teachings of Adi Sankara I undertook a Bharatha Yathra during 1999-2000, mostly by foot and all alone, without money and with the vow not to ask anyone for anything, leaving it for each moment to lead me to the next moment and each place to the next place. Commencing the journey at Kanyakumari on October 2, 1999 the journey took me criss-cross India up to the Himalayan Shrine Kedarnath and formally wound up the journey on August 31, 2000.
On the way at Calcutta there was a futile attempt on my life. This Bharath Yathra turned out to be a spiritual exercise. Unknowingly and without a prior warning, I got drifted to spirituality after vising Kollur Mookambika Temple and living there for three days. The journey took me to hundreds and thousands of temples and other places of worships irrespective of religion, including all twelve Jyotir Ling Temples, Dwaraka, Pushkar, Puri, Mathura, Ayodhya, etc. After finishing the journey on return at Rishikesh I took for myself a spiritual name "Sri Ram Nivedit". It meant totally surrendered to my inner consciousness. This name is used more in e-mails.
I am a lawyer by education, but I chose not to join the bar and practice law for making money. I am influenced by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and his contemporaries like J. C. Kumarappa. I started working at 18 years of age starting from Gandhigram founded by Late G. Ramachandran, which is now a Deemed University. I had the privilege of being closely associated with G. Ramachandran, R. R. Diwakar, Lakshmi N. Menon, Dr.Sushila Nayar, R. Parthasarathi, Devendra Kumar, etc.
I had the privilege of working for National Committee for Gandhi Centenary (NCGC), New Delhi from its inception and until it was wound up. President of India was the President of NCGC, Vice-President of India was its Vice-President, Prime Minister of India was the Chairman of its Executive Committee and R. R. Diwakar was its Honorary Secretary. During this period I had the privilege of being associated with great personalities both at national and international level. In 1970 I received Prasasthi Pathra and Medal for my contribution for Gandhi Centenary work from the then President of India Shri V. V. Giri.
I am a strict vegetarian. I do not smoke and I do not drink alcoholic drinks. I abhor both smoking and drinking.
I love writing - both prose and poems. I have written a number of articles and poems in English. I already published a book "DOVE OF PEACE". Other writings, both prose and poems, are being compiled to publish as books. Also I have plans to write my travelogue.
I have two children - first son who is 35 year old and second daughter who is 32 year old, who are both management executives. Through both son and daughter I have three grandchildren - twograndsons and one granddaughter.
I believe in universal brotherhood without barriers like religion, caste, creed, political belief, etc. I love and long for peace in the universe sans wars of all kinds. This new age of information technology is the right time and opportunity for internal transformation in each individual and make universal brotherhood and peace a reality. It is my firm belief that it is possible and feasible.
I am widely travelled inside India and outside India I travelled to countries like Nepal, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
